As far as the history of Palace on Wheels is concerned, this train was launched for the first time in the time between 1981 and 1982. This was the result of efforts by both Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and Indian Railways. At first the coaches were just like any other common first class train that are run in this country. But later on Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation decided to bring some new changes in the infrastructure and furniture inside the train. After this decision the aristocratic decorations were completed.
