Saheliyon Ki Bari is among the most beautiful gardens in Udaipur which attract a large number of tourists round the year. The garden is notable for its exuberant green lawns, fountains and marble art. In English, Saheliyon Ki Bari means, "Garden of maids". It is situated on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, giving a green retreat in the dry and arid regions of Rajasthan. Garden of maids was constructed in the 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh for the pleasure of the royal ladies.

It is said that Saheliyon Ki Bari was configured by the king himself and he awarded this garden to his queen. The Queen was attended by 48 maids in her marriage and in order to offer all of them some amount of pleasure, this garden was made. The queen, accompanied by her maids and female companions used to visit this garden for a stroll.
The brilliant architectural design of Saheliyon Ki Bari provides a breath-taking sight to any observer. The garden is adorned with various fountains in its four water pools, marble elephants and chiseled kiosks. It is also famous for its bird-fountains and lotus pool. The lavish green lawns, marble pavilions and flowerbeds further raise the romantic atmosphere of this splendid garden.
Later, Maharana Bhopal Singh was interested in this place and constructed a marquee of rain fountains. The idea was to form a fancy of rain dancing in cadence with the dancing maids. The fountains used here were imported from England and you can decipher them along with the reservoir of the garden. The main source has four black marbled kiosks in the corners and a white marbled kiosk in the center. These fountains are like sculpted birds spurting water from their beaks producing the rain effect from the top of the kiosk.
One of the major attractions of Saheliyon Ki Bari is the museum which holds huge collection of royal households. It has in store many ancient pictures and things. If you are on a tour of Udaipur then you may visit Saheliyon Ki Bari for a marvelous view of the historical garden.
