Singa Chowri Temple

In Chittorgarh, apart from the Chittorgarh Fort itself, the Singa Chowri Temple is one of the most important places to visit. Located within the premises of the Chittorgarh Fort, this place used to be one of the major places to worship for the residents within the fort. The Rajputs are considered to be the great believers of the heavenly force. In fact, many of the historians have asserted in their analysis that the great deal of courage and self assertion of the Rajputs originated from their faith in God and religion. The rulers of Chittorgarh Fort established this great piece of architecture for the purpose of providing more enthusiasm to the common men of the fort in the moments of danger and crucial moments.
The Singa Chowri Temple is considered to be one of the greatest marvels of the contemporary Rajput craftsmanship and artifacts. This is an age old belief that you can always witness the microcosmic effect on the macrocosm. Perhaps, the peace which prevails within the temple and surrounding areas is the greatest instance of this statement. People of this fort for several centuries prayed within the temple and the result of their prayer is clear from the peaceful atmosphere which prevails all over the place.

Every year the Singa Chowri Temple attracts thousands of tourists to visit this place. The main reason is that the beautiful engravings and subtle architectural creations on the walls and floor of the temple. Moreover, you will get an awesome atmosphere surrounding this place. The main gateway to the temple is full of greenery and you will be overwhelmed by the smell of various known and unknown seasonal flowers. This temple is a worshiping place of many gods and goddesses. During the Muslim invasion to Chittorgarh, this great piece of architecture got damaged quite badly but later on with the tremendous initiative of the Government of Rajasthan, revival of the temple became possible and it is now back at its own grace.
