Bharatpur Sightseeing

Bharatpur sightseeing brings for you a wide range of attractions starting from the wild life sanctuaries to the palaces and forts of the erstwhile rulers of the land. Today, Bharatpur is one of the best bird sanctuaries in India. Bharatpur sightseeing includes:
  • Bharatpur (Keoladeo Ghana) National Park – This Park is also known by the name of Keoladeo Ghana. Keoladeo is derived from a Hindu temple of Lord Shiva located in the central part of the park. The word ‘Ghana’ means, dense and denotes thick forest that used to cover the park area. The park houses about 375 varieties of exotic birds, both local and migratory. Among these, 132 breeds reside in the sanctuary. The migratory birds come not only from various parts of India but also from places as far as Siberia, Europe, Tibet, China, etc. Bharatpur also provides a favorable habitation to animals like Cheetal, Boar, Sambar, Nilgai, etc.

  • Bharatpur Palace and Government Museum – It owes its constitution to a number of Maharajas. This beautiful architecture is an intermixing of the Rajput and Mughal styles. The palace possesses a number of apartments, ornamented with elaborately designed floor tiles. The museum displays rich collection of artifacts from the 2nd century.

  • Ganga Mandir (Temple) – Bharatpur Sightseeing is incomplete without a glimpse of the architectural wonder provided by the Ganga Mandir.

  • Lohargarh Fort (Iron Fort) – This fort is a symbol of the architectural qualities of the ancient period. The construction of the fort was primarily based on strength and defense. Lohargarh Fort resisted many attacks by the British.

  • Laxman Mandir (Temple) – This temple is devoted to the younger brother of Lord Rama, Laxman. The ceilings, doorways, pillars, arches and walls of the temple are carved with byzantine stonework.
