The Iranian architect Ustad Isa designed this beautiful monument which has become synonymous with love. The construction of Taj Mahal began in the year 1631 and it took nearly 22 years to finish this wonderful piece of work of art. The Mughal emperor ordered most precious materials and stones from all corners of the country as well as Central Asia. More than twenty thousand people were employed for its construction. It is believed that one thousand elephants transported these materials from various sites to the construction site.
Care was taken to see that this monument was built in an absolute flawless manner. The dome of the Taj is of white marble. The interior of Taj Mahal was adorned with precious and rare stones and jewels much of which was taken away by the British. Semi precious stones are now encrusted in place of those exquisite stones. The Taj from its main entrance gate, the pavements, the gardens, the four minerets all adds to the beauty of Taj. The beauty of Taj unveiled in different ways when viewed at different times of the day. And dont forget to witness the Taj in a fullmoon night when the beauty of the Taj with its silvery appearance reaches its zenith.
